John Rold, former Colorado State Geologist
Our colleague and friend, John Rold, State Geologist and Director of the Colorado Geological Survey from 1969 - 1992, passed away this morning.
Arrangements
have been made for services this Saturday the 15th at 10:30. They will be
at the St James Presbyterian Church, 3601 West Bellevue in
Littleton.
I met John shortly after beginning my tenure as a faculty member at the University of Northern Colorado in 1971. After his talk about the activities of the newly re-constituted Colorado Geological Survey (CGS), I became a fan of John and CGS. As I moved around the country, I always followed with interest, his leadership of CGS. His legacy to the people of Colorado is large and lasting.
