New officers for AASG



The Association of American State Geologists elected a new Executive Committee at its annual meeting in Deadwood, SD, in June.  The new Committee, which took over the reins of the Association on July 1, consists of:
 
John Parrish (California), President [right, credit, CA Geological Survey]
Jon Arthur (Florida), President-Elect
Joe Gillman (Missouri), Vice President
David Spears (Virginia), Secretary
Michael Hohn (West Virginia), Treasurer
Rex Buchanan (Kansas), Editor
Dave Norman (Washington), Statistician
Steve Mabee (Massachusetts), Historian
Harvey Thorleifson (Minnesota), Past President

The new Executive Committee is energetic and enthusiastic about carrying on the work of the Association as we move forward into a new year.

Oregon job opening for lidar coordinator



 The Oregon Dept. of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) has opened a position for an  Information System Specialist 6 (Lidar Project & Database Coordinator).

Job openings at New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources



By the end of this week, there will be three job postings on our New Mexico Tech website for vacant positions at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. The positions they are trying to fill ASAP include:
  1. A manager for our publications program
  2. A field geologist
  3. A database manager (this is a new position)
All three of these positions are either already posted or will shortly be posted on the university website at:

In the next month or two, they will be posting a job announcement for a Senior Hydrologist. This position will manage the Aquifer Mapping program and will oversee all of the hydrogeology projects at the Bureau.
